Crock Pot French Toast Bites

Last weekend, one of my friends decided to host a pot luck brunch party. I love this idea and think I should do it more. I love going out to brunch in Chicago (there are so many places to try), but it can be really expensive and time consuming when you have to wait an hour for a table. Pot lucks are the way to go! I tried a French Toast bake for the first time in my Crock Pot and had great results! Please note: the first step requires you to refrigerate overnight, so no procrastinating!

Crock Pot French Toast Bites


  • 1 loaf of bread (I’d recommend something sweet like cinnamon swirl, but anything works)
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 additional teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of pecans (optional)
  • Pinch of nutmeg (optional)

What to do:

Slice the bread into smaller pieces. Whisk the eggs, milk and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon together in a large bowl and pour over the bread. Make sure all of the bread has been soaked in the mix. Cover and keep refrigerated over night.

In the morning, spray the Crock Pot (I used a 6 quart one) with non-stick spray. Pour the bread mix in. In a smaller bowl, mix the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans and nutmeg together. Add on top of the bread mix. Cook on high for 2-2.5 hours or on low for about 4 hours. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes before serving. I sprinkled some brown sugar on top at the end.


I used sourdough bread and I think this would be better with a sweeter, thinner bread. It still tasted good though and people seemed to really enjoy this!

    Yum! I finally got around to making this myself today for a brunch gathering we were having. My friend had made your recipe before so I knew I liked it.

    It was really easy to make! Unfortunately I didn’t read all the directions beforehand so I almost didn’t make it the night before and have it soak overnight, which I think is key. It was kind of like a bread pudding consistency which I thought was great, everyone really liked it! Thanks!
