Crock Pot Chocolate Oatmeal

Wait, chocolate for breakfast!? Yes, that’s right. No catch. I got this recipe from Skinny Ms,  so it’s not even unhealthy! This is very easy to make right before you go to bed and it’s ready to go when you wake up.

Crock Pot Chocolate Oatmeal
Starting the day out right!

  • 1 cup steel-cut oats
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup milk (I used light vanilla soy milk)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Non-stick spray
  • Chocolate chips (optional)

What to do:

In a large bowl, stir the water, milk and vanilla. Whisk in the cocoa powder, brown sugar and salt. Add the oats in last and stir. MAKE SURE TO USE NON-STICK SPRAY OR OIL ON THE CROCK POT. Then add the contents into the crock pot. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. When you wake up, give it a stir and add some chocolate chips on top. Eat and enjoy!

I was very pleased at how this turned out! I definitely recommend adding some chocolate chips of brown sugar before you eat it if you like oatmeal as sweet as I do. It saves well; you can reheat it in the microwave for 1 minute and it tastes the same as it did right out of the crock pot. Do add a little milk when you reheat it though.
