Honey Garlic Chicken

There are times when crock pot cooking is very satisfying.  When done right, there is nothing better than a fresh batch of delicious slow cooked goodness.  This was not one of those times.  This isn’t a bad recipe, but it’s not good either.  I’ll give it to you anyway because I think it has potential with a little adjusting.

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon of basil
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup of honey
What to do:

Put chicken in the crock pot first.  Then put all of the ingredients together in a separate bowl and pour sauce mixture on top.  If you are using a 4 quart crock pot, cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3-4 hours.

Review:

I think the soy sauce over powered the other ingredients.  I would encourage you to add more honey or use less soy sauce or both.  It may just be that the soy sauce is weird.  I was thinking about using BBQ sauce and honey instead in the future.  From my extensive experience eating chicken nuggets, I know that honey and BBQ sauce works!  So, I’ll update this next time I try.  If you have any ideas or thoughts, let me know in the comments.
