Hello everyone! I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything in a bit. It’s been a hectic week and a half, but I am back in Crock Pot action. This is a fun alternative to pasta bakes. I got this from a website called Chocolate and Carrots. Thanks Pinterest!
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 (24 ounce) container of mariana sauce
- 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
- dash of red pepper flakes
- 14 ounces noodles
- 2 cups of shredded 2% milk cheddar cheese
- 2 cups of shredded part skim mozzarella cheese
- 40 slices regular pepperonis or turkey pepperonis
What to do:
Brown the ground turkey with onion. Drain the excess liquid. Meanwhile, boil water and cook the pasta according to the instructions on the pasta. Drain water. Stir in the marinara sauce, Italian season and red pepper flakes with the ground turkey and onion. Put a layer of the sauce mixture on the bottom of the crock pot. Then add a layer of pasta noodles. Toss half the pepperoni on top of the noodles and layer with cheese. Then add the remainder of the sauce, noodles, pepperoni and cheese. Cook on low for 3-4 hours.
I’m all for healthy alternatives, but I would say use regular pepperoni rather than turkey pepperoni. The taste difference is pronounced. Otherwise this is a tasty pasta dish!
